Im Overview
From the most fruits you can find at fruit stands you can extract seeds. From these seeds you can grow adult plants with patience. After two or three years most plants will bloom and get fruits for the first time. I’ll will show you my experiences with the propagation and cultivation of fruit plants. All here presented species can you keep without any hightech or the possession of a greenhouse. A garden and a bright room are sufficient.
Presented Species
- Pineapple (Ananas comosus). It’s easy to propagate a pineapple plant from the plant tuff. Depending on climate, it could take up to three years to enjoy its fruit.
- Avocado (Persea americana). An easy to grow pot plant.
- Banana Passion Fruit (Passiflora tarminiana). An easy vine with beautiful flowers and yellow fruits.
- Pineapple Guava (Acca sellowiana). A great pot plant, excellent fruits, beautiful flowers.
- Guava (Psidium guajava) Fast growing. Becomes within a few years a little tree or high bush. Good fruits.
- Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus). Its cultivation without a greenhouse is complicated. No fruits in Germany.
- Carob Tree (Ceratonia siliqua). Uncomplicated pot plant, unassuming.
- Lychee (Litchi chinensis). Its cultivation without a greenhouse is complicated. No fruits in Germany.
- Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica). A good tub plant, fast growing, good fruits.
- Naranjilla ( Solanum quitoense ). A very weird plant with a high ornamental value. Perennial. Interesting fruits.
- Purple Passion Fruit (Passiflora edulis). A vine with delicious fruits.
- Cape Gooseberry (Physalis peruviana). Mostly annual. Cultivation easy, similar to tomatoes.
- Tree Tomato (Solanum betaceum). Fast growing, becomes quickly a little tree with many fruits.
- Lemon (Citrus × limon). Fast growing. You can harvest lemons also here.
- Lemon Grass (Cymbopogon citratus). Fast growing. Well-known spice of the Asian cuisine.
