Partly they are flowed round by water.<\/p>\n<p>But not only scenic is the small nature reserve delightful. It also hosts a very rich biodiversity, including many species which are listed in the V. Red Data Book of Vietnam.<\/p>\n<p>Particularly must be mentioned the Delacour&#8217;s langur (<i>Trachypithecus delacouri<\/i>), a very rare endemic Vietnamese primate species.<\/p>\n<div class=\"intextl\"><a class=\"lupe200\" title=\"The nature reserve involved in mist. Elser.\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Van Long Nature Reserve constitutes the most important biotope for this to the 25 world\u2019s most endangered primates belonging langur.<\/p>\n<p>Nowhere else are to find worldwide more individuals of this species. Groups of Delacour\u2019s langurs which are living on the mountain ranges named Dong Quyen \u2013 Hoang Quyen are most common seen.<\/p>\n<p>This mountain range can be conveniently circuited by a bamboo boat.<\/p>\n<p>Van Long achieved financial support from the Frankfurter Zoologische Gesellschaft.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-4 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">Location, topography and climate<\/h2><span class=\"awb-title-spacer\"><\/span><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"border-color:#3e3e3e;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-2\"><div class=\"intextl\"><a class=\"lupe200\" title=\"The nature reserve in the evening. Elser.\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Van Long Nature Reserve is located in the northern part of Gia Vien district, Ninh Binh Province, 82 km from Hanoi away. It lies in the lowland of the Day and Hoang Long rivers and is the greatest in-land wetland in the Red River Basin.<\/p>\n<p>Dominated is the nature reserve by limestone hills, which are surrounded by marshes. In the limestone hills are numerous caves, collapsed holes and karst funnels. All in all it has 2.736 hectares, rocky terrain amounts to \u00be to the area, the remaining \u00bc is wetland.<\/p>\n<p>The climate is strongly seasonal with cold, arid winters and a rainy saison from April to October. Thus is best travel time March\/April or September\/October.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-title title fusion-title-5 fusion-title-text fusion-title-size-two\"><h2 class=\"fusion-title-heading title-heading-left\" style=\"margin:0;\">Excursion possibilities, arrival and accommodation<\/h2><span class=\"awb-title-spacer\"><\/span><div class=\"title-sep-container\"><div class=\"title-sep sep-single sep-solid\" style=\"border-color:#3e3e3e;\"><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-3\"><h3>Excursion possibilities<\/h3>\n<div class=\"intextr\"><a class=\"lupe200\" title=\"The boat pier at dusk. Elser.\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>In Van Long Nature Reserve you have only a few options for survey.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow you should do a bamboo boat trip. There exist two tours. To the right it goes to a grotto, to the left you go around a limestone slope. There are Delacour&#8217;s langurs to observe regularly, but with certainty you will see many waterfowls. Talk with your boatsman, for a little tip you can combine both tours too. Prices for the boat trip have Third World-level: 60.000 Dong (~ 2,00 \u20ac) fot the boat plus 15.000 Dong (~ 0,50 \u20ac) per person.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore you can rent a bike in Emeralda Resort or from the villagers and explore the wetland on cart tracks and dikes.<\/p>\n<h3>Arrival<\/h3>\n<div class=\"intextr\"><a class=\"lupe200\" title=\"The boat pier. You see in the background the limestones, home of the Delacour's langurs.\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><span><\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Take the bus Hanoi \u2013 Nho Quan (You find further information on my site &#8218;Endangered monkeys of Vietnam&#8216; under the topic &#8218;Cuc Phuong National Park&#8216;) and get off at the Gia Van People\u2019s committee. Then walk to the Van Long tourism office (etwa 1,5 km). This is located between pier and the Resort Van Long.<\/p>\n<h3>Accommodation<\/h3>\n<p>There are two hotels in Gia Van:<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-4\"><p>The three-star hotel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.resortvanlong.vn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i class=\"fa fa-sign-out\"><\/i> Resort Van Long<\/a>. Dinner is bad, service lousy and the photos on the homepage show the Resort maybe a few years ago. Reality looks different.<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"fusion-text fusion-text-5\"><p>The five-star hotel <a href=\"http:\/\/www.emeraldaresort.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><i class=\"fa fa-sign-out\"><\/i> Emeralda Resort Ninh Binh<\/a> with excellent service and good dinner. Until now were described 687 plant species, among 35 aquatic plant species.
